Job Description: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is now hiring a General Building Maintenance Technician at the Daytona Beach Campus. The General Building Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine and skilled maintenance and repair tasks on campus facilities. The Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of general building systems.

The General Building Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine and skilled maintenance and repair tasks on campus facilities. The Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of general building systems.
Job duties include:
- Plumbing: Unclogging toilets and drains, replacing plumbing fixtures
- Electrical: Replacing electrical receptacles, light bulbs, and light fixtures
- Carpentry: Installing and repairing doors, door hardware, closers, and door stops
- Roof and Gutter Maintenance: Cleaning and sealing roofs, clearing gutters and downspouts, and making minor roof repairs
- Window Maintenance: Building and installing window screens
- Appliance Installation: Installing refrigerators, ranges, and other appliances
- HVAC Maintenance: Changing HVAC filters
- Drywall and Painting: Performing drywall repairs, touch-ups, and painting
Required Education
- High School (or GED)
- Lift Certification (Forklift and Scissors Lift)
- Aerial Certification
- OSHA10 Certification
- 5 years of experience in general building or facilities
maintenance or in the building trades to perform the duties
assigned to this position and skilled in proper and safe use of
tools, materials and equipment common to the trade.
- Principles of carpentry, plumbing, painting and electrical
work.
- Principles of heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Must possess and maintain a valid, US driver’s license.
- Must meet the University’s standards for approved drivers.
Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and
Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years
from the date of each occurrence):
- Three (3) or more at-fault accidents and/or moving violations
in the previous 36 months.
- Two (2) or more at-fault accidents or two (2) or more moving
violations in the past year.
- Conviction for driving while impaired (DWl, DUl within the last
five (5) years).
- Conviction for death by vehicle, hit and run, racing, careless
and reckless driving, implied consent in the previous five (5)
years.
- Serious violations result in immediate disqualification and
revocation of driver privileges. The following are examples of
serious violations:
- Speeding over 15 mph of the posted limit, driving under the
Influence of alcohol or drugs, leaving the scene of an accident,
reckless or careless driving, Use of vehicle in (drug trafficking,
reckless homicide, soliciting), unlawful use of weapons, driving
under suspension or revocation, fleeing a police officer, vehicle
theft, Improper or illegal lane change, following too close, and
passing a stopped school bus while stop sign is engaged.
