PURPOSE
The Maintenance Technician for Islander Housing at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on university housing facilities, including residence halls and apartment-style living units. The technician will work under the direction of the Facilities Director to ensure that all facilities are in good condition and safe for residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance - 90%
- Perform regular preventative maintenance and repairs on
residential facilities, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing,
painting, HVAC, and other systems.
- Respond to resident requests for maintenance or repairs in a
timely and efficient manner.
- Use of ladders and small lifts.
- Conduct regular inspections of residential units to identify
and address potential maintenance issues before they become larger
problems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repair
work completed.
- Work with contractors and vendors as needed to complete larger
maintenance projects.
Other - 10%
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities
Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of related experience in building
maintenance.
- Additional experience may be considered as a substitute for the
minimum education requirement: Five (5) years of full-time related
experience.
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and other
building systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact
professionally with residents, staff, and contractors.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced
environment.
- Willingness to work on-call and after hours as
needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, and work in cramped
or awkward positions for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Additional education or training in maintenance or construction
fields preferred.
- Previous experience in building maintenance in a university or
other large residential setting is preferred.
SALARY: up to $18.50/hourly.
