Communications Strategist II
Location: Moscow, Boise, Off Campus Location - Remote/Hybrid
Division/College: College of Natural Resources

Pay Range: $63,128 or higher depending on experience
FTE: 1.0
Full/Part Time: Full Time
Position Summary:
The position oversees internal and external communication strategy for the unit. The incumbent of the position uses university strategies and process to execute the communications and marketing goals of the unit. This position advances the reputation of the University of Idaho and unit(s) through purposeful and creative messaging that is tied to strategic initiatives and builds campus wide and public understanding and support for the teaching and research mission of the unit(s) specifically, as well as the University of Idaho in general. Additionally, they will serve as the unit's liaison for leveraging and activating strategies in partnership with University Communications & Marketing.
Duties may include:
- Advance the unit's reputation through execution of public relations strategies that drive purposeful messaging and engagement in support of the unit's strategic goals, priorities, and initiatives
- Provides communications leadership in a variety of unit priorities
- Write and edit a variety of content in digital and print formats
- Leverages central communication and marketing initiatives and contributes to the university's broader content strategy
- Assist the university's communication and marketing strategic goals with vision articulation, recruitment/enrollment messaging, Donor/Alumni communication and internal communications
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations;four additional years of experience (for a total of six years) may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree
- Two years of communications, journalism or public relations experience
- Editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials
- Handling a variety of projects simultaneously that require a high degree of attention to details
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or higher in Natural Resource or Environmental Science field
- Experience in writing engaging content on current wildland fire and/or rangeland science topics
- Experience in fire science, rangeland science, natural resources, environmental science or related field
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational and project management skills
- Experience using social media to promote and increase awareness
- Attention to detail and editing skills
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment
