Full-Time Faculty Position Announcement

Building on a legacy of over 150 years of being UNAFRAID, Pacific School of Religion (www.psr.edu) is seeking a full-time faculty colleague who is able to teach one or more of the following areas: Black Spirituality and Theological Traditions, Leadership and Administration (MBA or equivalent experience desired), Art and Religion in Digital Spaces. A full-time teaching load is 2-2, including committee work. Rank is open.

Candidates should have a clear understanding of the pressing need for change in higher education and leadership formation, have competence to teach in multiple disciplines, including interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary content, design of curricula, varying delivery models and show flexibility and generosity in addressing the needs of the school. Experience in academic leadership, accreditation and institutional research is highly desirable.

They should be able to:

• demonstrate their commitment to rigorous academic work by their eagerness and ability to make their discipline more widely accessible and impactful; teach and research in multiple disciplines; bring their own faith or conviction to bear on the creation of a world where all can thrive; be eager to be visible and engaged citizens of a community dedicated to serving marginalized communities and committed to being present to students in the classroom and remotely; have a research agenda that centers the wisdom and needs of historically marginalized communities; be willing to fully engage developing educational technologies;

PSR faculty have opportunities to teach outstanding graduate students in our stackable curriculum and spiritually rooted leaders in a variety of sectors through short-term programs and certificates. Additionally, PSR faculty can engage doctoral students through PSR’s DMin program and the Graduate Theological Union PhD program.

After a successful initial 3-year contract and review, faculty members at PSR enter a rolling contract that demonstrates PSR’s commitment to a faculty member’s career.

Located next to the University of California, Berkeley, PSR is home to an inter-generational learning community committed to education for social change and home to the innovative work of Ignite Institute (www.igniteatpsr.com) and the Center for LGBTQ and Gender Studies in Religion (www.clgs.org).  PSR faculty reside in the Bay Area as they join in solidarity with a majority people of color and LGBTQ+ community, rooted in progressive Christian traditions and interfaith commitments. They also cultivate partnerships within the larger consortial structure of the Graduate Theological Union (www.gtu.edu). GTU is the largest and most diverse theological consortium in the world, of which PSR was a founding member.

Expertise in academic leadership and in innovative educational models and delivery approaches are highly desirable. ABD applicants will be considered if planning to graduate by May 2025.

Salary

$88,000 to $98,000 based on rank
