POSITION SUMMARY
The Academic Coordinator II is a vital link between LPP program sites and the LPP Director and Associate Director. The Coordinator will ensure day-to-day activities at the assigned high school site, organize programmatic activities, and work closely with supervisors to achieve grant project outcomes. This position requires an outgoing, approachable and self-motivated individual with a passion for assisting high school students from underrepresented groups.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Implement recruitment and retention efforts within each high school
-
Foster and maintain relationships with high school administrative team and staff
-
Facilitate programming with the assistance of other LPP professionals that contribute to the goal of advancing student's academic, personal, and professional growth
-
Gathering of materials for marketing purposes and events at each school
-
Track and evaluate all student contact and program activities
-
Perform one-on-one meetings with students in the program to assist with short and long-range educational goals

Provide academic and professional counseling.

Functioning as a representative for the LPP program, activities may include:

Collaborating with other programs and organizations to deliver services to students

Delivering presentations about program components within the school and community
-
Attending school and community meetings as a LPP representative

Handling other duties as assigned by the Associate Director and Director

Performs a variety of related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required
-
Master’s Degree preferred
-
NYS Teaching Certification preferred
-
An interest in, and commitment to, academic achievement in high school students
-
Minimum of two years experience working with high school students in an academic or equivalent environment
-
An understanding of and comfort with culturally diverse populations
-
Excellent written and oral communication skills
-
A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; general computer knowledge required
-
Flexibility and adaptability are essential
-
Willingness to work occasional non-traditional hour
