Job Description:
The Accountant position is responsible for the management, analysis and review of the Foundation’s general ledger, accounts payables, cash receipts, financial and management reporting functions. The Accountant position will also assist with annual financial audits.
· General ledger management: Reviews and processes journal entries into general ledger database. Uploads financial transactions (i.e., investment interest) into accounting software, on a timely basis.
· Reconciliations: Prepares monthly account reconciliations (i.e., cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accrued expenses), to ensure reporting accuracy. Evaluates general ledger accounts and corrects errors as needed
· Financial Reporting: Generates monthly financial and budget reports for distribution
· Supports Accounts Payable process: Processes online ACH-Wire transactions, weekly.
· Supports Cash Receipts process: Reviews and closes Ellucian batches as needed
· Annual Audits: Facilitates annual audit preparation by generating audit schedules and assists in responding to auditors inquiries
· Performs other duties as requested
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum six years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business, CPA or Advance Business degree is preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Strong leadership skills
Attention to details
Analytical and problem solving capabilities
Proficient with technology, accounting software, Excel spreadsheets, Outlook, Teams or Zoom teleconferencing
Communications: strong written and oral communication skills.
