About the Role

The Center for Biomarker Research and Precision Medicine (BPM, https://bpm.pharmacy.vcu.edu/ ) at Virginia Commonwealth University is searching for a motivated research fellow to join our team. Our research program aims to alleviate the tremendous personal, familial, and societal burden of mental illness and substance use disorders by using state-of-the-art technologies to identify molecular markers that can be used to develop new medications and tailor treatments to individual patients.

We are currently conducting multiple large-scale single-nucleus transcriptomic and epigenomic studies using human samples to investigate disorders such as autism, alcohol use disorder, schizophrenia, and suicide. We are seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to perform statistical and bioinformatics analyses. This project is highly multidisciplinary and collaborative, involving both local and external partners. The position is initially for two years and offers excellent opportunities for publishing research articles and advancing career development.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to perform statistical and bioinformatics analyses on the generated data, contribute to the maintenance and optimization of our analysis pipelines, and publish findings in leading scientific journals.

Required Qualifications

PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field.

Strong experience with Linux/Unix and R.

Excellent proficiency in written English.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with single-cell data analyses.

Salary Range: $61,008-$74,088
