The University of Montana, School of Public and Community Health Sciences (SPCHS), invites applications for a tenure- track Assistant/Associate Professor to begin August, 2025.

The ideal candidate will be well prepared to develop an independently-funded research program. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, indigenous research methods, implementation research, behavioral health, and health equity. The successful applicant will also have an opportunity to teach classes within our undergraduate, masters, and/or PhD-level classes in one or more of the following areas: indigenous health, social epidemiology, qualitative research methods, and public health policy. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to provide professional service to the university, profession, and community.

Title: Assistant/Associate Professor
Schedule:
Full time, academic year position (10 months)

Qualifications

· Doctorate degree in public health, or a closely related field

· Research program focused on indigenous health and epidemiology

· Experience working with indigenous communities

Preferred:

• Evidence of extramurally-funded research and publication history

• Focused research plan with high potential for sustained, external funding

• Evidence of effective teaching, particularly in the areas of indigenous health, social epidemiology, and research methodology or statistics.

• Knowledge and experience in public and behavioral health research

• Experience in community engagement and/or participatory research

• Evidence of leadership in public health practice and policy

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability and willingness to undertake collaborative research

• Ability to supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students

• Ability to maintain a safe working and learning environment
