LIM College - The Business of Fashion & Lifestyle is currently seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of Communications.
The LIM College Arts and Sciences Department is seeking an Assistant Professor of Communications to begin Fall 2025. We seek a generalist for this position, one who can teach courses in a range of disciplinary areas, potentially including interpersonal, oral, professional, rhetoric, organizational, strategic communication and intercultural/global communication. The successful candidate will not only be responsible for teaching and service but will additionally have opportunities to shape the communications curriculum as the department moves forward to better serve our students. A pioneering institution in the practice of learning-by-doing, LIM brings an experiential education to every classroom.
Candidates must therefore demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate core courses in our department, including Communications: Methods and Audiences, using active teaching methods, an emphasis on digital mediums, and innovative pedagogies.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to build elective classes in their area of expertise and to contribute to the Fashion Media degree, a B.S. in media studies and new media offered both fully online at our midtown Manhattan campus that prepares students for careers in the fashion and lifestyle media industry.
The successful candidate will teach a 4-4 course load and perform college service in close collaboration with the Chair, including coordinating adjunct faculty members, contributing to assessment of communication outcomes, participating in Open House and other admissions events, and serving on college committees.
Salary Range: $80,000-$83,000
August 1, 2025 start date.
- Stay current with innovative teaching methods, developments in the media profession, and disciplinary trends Contribute to the profession through research, consulting, presentations, and/or publications Assist the Department Chair and Associate Chair in course and program assessment as well as curriculum development Assist the Department Chair and Associate Chair and other faculty in norming core courses Conduct observations of faculty as assigned by Chair or Associate Chair Work closely with other faculty as a mentor and resource Serve on the Faculty Council and standing committees Contribute to college-wide Admissions programs and initiatives Actively engage with the field through relevant association memberships Oversee project-based learning opportunities in the department Teach 4 courses per semester in various modalities as assigned by the chair Help to increase and promote academic and industry scholarship opportunities Work well in a team environment Perform other duties as assigned This position is not remote and requires an on-campus presence as determined by the chair
Requirements: The person selected will have the following qualifications:

PhD in Communications or related field

Demonstrated knowledge and ability to engage students in active learning.

Experience using learning management software for some aspects of course delivery as well as grading (Canvas knowledge preferred).

Experience with or interest in asynchronous learning pedagogies (online teaching)
