Job Details
Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+) is a
program sponsored by SUNY aimed at creating a pipeline for over 400 postdoctoral fellows to enter tenure-track
faculty positions at state-operated campuses over the next 10 years. The program’s goal is to increase the number of
excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion who are selected for
and excel in tenure-track positions. At SUNY Plattsburgh we are proud to have been selected to offer a PRODiG+
Fellowship opportunity to start Fall 2025 for a career as an academic in the discipline of Nursing.
This Fellowship is a unique two-year opportunity to join a faculty and receive enhanced supports and mentoring. We
have the expectation that a successful Fellow will transition to a tenure-track position, while supporting our
institution which encourages educational mobility and a mission that emphasizes excellence in teaching, scholarship,
and service.
Additional SUNY Plattsburgh supports for the PRODiG+ Fellow include: a reduced teaching load of 6 credits a
semester for two years (from 12 credits to 6 a semester); monthly mentoring with a tenured faculty mentor during the
two-year Fellowship through a Faculty-Senate mentoring program; new faculty orientation and onboarding
workshops; resources related to the academic performance review process, faculty benefits, and other monthly
presentations.
Duties are expected to include teaching courses such as nursing foundations, health assessment, maternal child
nursing, and/or care of adults. Clinical supervision of students in a hospital and/or lab setting is also included.
The Department of Nursing offers baccalaureate programs that are fully accredited by the Commission on
Collegiate Nursing Education and well-established at the university. The department is within the School of
Education, Health, and Human Services, which focuses on preparing students for successful entry into a chosen
profession. We emphasize an ethical approach to human well-being and encourage critical thinking and practical
application. As SUNY Plattsburgh is an institution that delivers challenging and high-quality educational
experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and
sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity-minded policies, programs, and practices. The successful candidate may
be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format.
When applying, all candidates must complete standard application materials and also submit a PRODiG+ Fellow

campus community. Examples could include personal, academic, and/or work experience and may include, but is not
limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work,
volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas
and/or populations.”
