Description

Reporting to the Head Equipment Manager, this Assistant position will be responsible for assisting with meeting the daily needs for all 27 varsity sports programs, including Football, Basketball, Ice Hockey and Lacrosse. Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining, controlling, issuing and retrieving athletic equipment, practice gear and uniforms, daily laundry, and other duties as assigned. Candidates should be knowledgeable about a variety of specific duties, including helmet fitting, equipment maintenance, and ideally skate sharpening. Candidates must be willing and able to work nights and weekends and travel to select away games.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Aid with equipment operations of a Division I athletic program with 27 programs.
  • Assist the purchase, issuance, maintenance, inventory, collection and storage of practice and game equipment and apparel.
  • Assist in managing all equipment vendor relationships and contracts to ensure strong customer service, fulfillment of orders, and adherence to contractual benefits for Holy Cross.
  • Plan, manage, and forecast accurate equipment budgets for each varsity program with input from the respective head coaches.
  • Support the management and execution of daily laundry needs of all varsity programs.
  • Fit student-athletes for equipment according to NOSCAE and manufacturer standards.
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures for the operation of the equipment room.
  • Hire and manage work-study students to aid in the operation of the equipment function as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and experience in equipment control required. Excellent computer skills required. Experience as a student-athlete and/or knowledge of athletic equipment necessary. Must possess excellent time management skills and organizational skills and have the ability to communicate effectively with students, administrators and outside vendors.
