The Human Resources team provides services and solutions in the areas of compensation, benefits, recruiting, policy compliance, performance management, payroll services, and labor and employee relations along with other personnel services.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Director-Compensation, theCompensation Analystassists in administering employee compensation programs, which includes: creating position descriptions for new job titles and conducting job audits to assess existing titles; overseeing wage and salary administration for both union and non-bargained for positions; performing detailed data analysis; participating in and developing salary surveys; gathering data to support changes and/or enhancements to policies, procedures and programs; and offering guidance on compensation-related matters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Collaborates with management to analyze new and existing positions, assessing duties and responsibilities. Conducts research on occupational trends and statistical data to make informed recommendations.

· Drafts and revises job descriptions to accurately reflect job duties and responsibilities, using this information to determine appropriate salary ranges. Assesses and determines the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status for positions.

· Conducts job audits to ensure accurate position classifications, evaluates positions, and communicates findings to college administration for implementation.

· Reviews employee reclassification requests to new job titles, analyzing Job Analysis Questionnaires (JAQs), conducting interviews, and gathering data to recommend appropriate classifications.

· Assists in administering pay increases per collective bargaining agreements. Supports collective bargaining teams by providing data and cost analysis/projections of salary-related issues.

· Assists in reviewing and approving rate change requests and pay rates for all full-time and part-time employees. Provides support in maintaining market and internal salary equity and recommending competitive pay ranges based on the duties and required qualifications of the position. Consults with district administrators to determine appropriate starting salaries for new employees. Reviews position duties, required qualifications, candidate credentials, salary history and internal equity to determine appropriate starting salary level.

· Develops, conducts, and participates in salary surveys to provide the district with current market salary data. Analyzes data from external and ad hoc surveys, presenting results to management to support compensation recommendations.

· Provides support and guidance to District and College staff on employee compensation matters.

· Actively participates in special projects, providing comprehensive support to departmental initiatives and contributing expertise as needed.

· Performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university, supplemented by four years of direct compensation experience

· An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered based on the applicant’s credentials

· Proven experience in writing and revising position descriptions.

· Familiarity with job evaluation methods, salary structures, and market analysis preferred

· Experience with PeopleSoft or similar HRIS systems preferred

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and develop practical solutions.

· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining a strong attention to detail.

· Ability to conduct research for salary surveys, job descriptions, and compensation reviews.

· Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, including internal and external stakeholders.

· Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize work and manage responsibilities independently.

· Ability to approach all situations with tact, persuasion, and diplomacy.

· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.

· Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), including experience using Excel to create reports and analyze data.
