The Wellness Center Counseling Services is looking for our new Assistant Director. If you are looking for ways to support the emotional well-being of the South Dakota State University ( SDSU ) campus community, this opportunity may be for you! As the Assistant Director for Wellness Center Counseling, you will play a pivotal role in the overall well-being and success of students by working closely with the Director and counseling staff to ensure the delivery of exceptional mental health care to our student population. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position provides leadership and oversight for the South Dakota State University ( SDSU ) Counseling Services. The role involves fostering strong collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and university administrators while offering training and consultation on the prevention and early intervention of mental health issues that could impact student success or pose risks to the safety and well-being of the campus community. Additionally, the position plays an active role in university-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing student life and improving retention.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Master’s degree in Counseling or directly related field completed by start date;
- Minimum of three years experience in counseling;
- At least two years of supervisory experience;
- Ability to communicate effectively with multiple constituents, both verbally and in writing, through presentations, reports, portfolios, and other forms of documentation;
- Ability to deliver messages in a clear and understandable manner to all stakeholders; and
- Ability to effectively communicate knowledge of the complexities of college mental health service delivery.
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a college setting
- Proven ability to provide vision, training, supervision, and leadership to a department
- Strong relationship management skills with a demonstrated commitment to student learning
- LPC -MH and/or QMHP licensure in the State of South Dakota
