Minimal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following or a closely related
field:
- Graphic Design
- Visual Communication
- Digital Media Arts/Design
- Multimedia Design
- UX Design
- Commercial Arts
- Graphic Arts
- Advertising
- Marketing
AND
- Minimum of 5 years of professional, tested experience in a directly related field, demonstrated through a portfolio and resume, with a strong understanding of current graphic design trends.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-secondary teaching experience, demonstrated through a portfolio and resume.
- Extensive experience in graphic design with a robust portfolio showcasing expertise in design principles, typography, and digital media.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), and familiarity with other relevant design tools and platforms.
- Experience managing, coordinating, or leading a program or similarly scaled responsibility.
- Curriculum development and assessment experience preferred.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems ( LMS ) such as Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, etc.
- Demonstrated qualification through related certification and/or
industry experience to teach most, if not all, courses in the
program including those related to or that include elements of the
following:
- Design foundations
- Design software
- History of graphic design
- Typography and layout
- Identity design and branding
- Information design
- Publication design
- Package design
- User experience and user interface design
- Marketing, advertising, promotions, and social media practice
- Illustration
- Time-based work
- Environmental graphic design (including wayfinding)
- Current and emerging digital platforms and entrepreneurial approaches
- Pre-press and printing
- Storytelling and visual narratives

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Brief Description of Duties:
- Deliver effective instruction.
- Assessment of student learning.
- Manage classes and learning environments – Foster a positive classroom-learning environment by presenting information in a way that is inclusive to all learners.
- Support learning through student engagement – Incorporate pedagogical strategies such as active learning, authentic and problem-based activities, and other successful teaching strategies into classroom instruction.
- Provide student guidance.
- Pursue professional development and remain current in academic field.
- Evidence of teamwork and collaborative efforts.
- Work with administration and faculty colleagues to promote the program to area constituencies, and work toward continued growth of the program.
- Actively participate in department, campus, cross-college, discipline-specific, district, and community service activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned to provide a high-quality learning experience for students.

- Master’s degree or higher in one of aforementioned fields.
- Proven ability to engage students using innovative teaching methodologies, including the integration of technology into teaching and learning.
- Experience teaching diverse student populations.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with design trends and technologies.
- Strong passion for teaching with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
