Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology (Non-Tenure Track)

Position Overview

The Department of Psychology at Butler University (Indianapolis, IN) invites applications for a two-year, non-tenure track visiting assistant professor position beginning August 2025. We seek a colleague who is committed to inclusive undergraduate teaching practices. We are seeking a full-time, in-person instructor with a Ph.D. in Psychology (or a closely related field) at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will be broadly trained in applied psychology and prepared to teach in a multidisciplinary university core curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Teach 4 courses (12 credit hours) per semester, with the possibility of reassignment of one course per year for conducting research with undergraduate research assistants.
• Courses will include required psychology courses such as Introductory Psychology and Research Methods & Statistics, as well as courses within the candidate’s area of expertise (e.g., industrial-organizational, health, clinical, or sports psychology).
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment, reflecting a commitment to evidence-based and engaged-learning pedagogies, and support the diverse backgrounds of the student body.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field required by the time of appointment.
• Broad training in applied psychology.
• Demonstrated commitment to innovative, inclusive teaching practices.
