Assists in maintaining financial records and ensuring that
financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy
of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger
accounts to the general ledger. Compiles financial data to aid
Senior Accountants, Manager of Accounting, and Executive Director
of Accounting in the preparation of Statements of Financial
Position, Statement of Activities, and Statement of Cash Flows and
other financial reports. Performs account analysis and
reconciliations along with participating with closing processes and
external audits. Requires a bachelor's degree. Reports to a Manager
of Accounting.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1. Account analysis and reconciliation.
2. Journal entries, bank reconciliations, accruals and reclassifications, month and year-end closing processes, and audit schedules.
3. Management of assigned tasks in an efficient and effective manner.
4. Apply knowledge of GAAP and Financial Accounting Standards, practices and procedures.
5. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, general accounting skills, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required. Individual must not be in default on any federal student or parent loan. Individual must not be convicted of, or pled nolo contendere or guilty to, a crime involving the acquisition, use, or expenditure of federal, state, or local government funds, -or- be administratively or judicially determined to have committed fraud or any other material violation of law involving federal, state, or local government funds (CFR 668.14(b)(18)(i)).
Higher education and banner experience, as well as 2-4 years' accounting experience and fluency in Spanish or ASL preferred. Effective communication both verbally and in writing. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Regularly required to lift 10 or fewer pounds.
