The R.I.S.E. Gen1 Program Coordinator will assist the Program Director with planning, implementation, oversight, and review of programming including academic support services, advisement, student development workshops, the Gen 1 Summer program, student recruitment and enrollment, and retention and completion initiatives. The coordinator will maintain an advising caseload of R.I.S.E. Gen-1 students, instruct a section of University Life, and create relevant student support programming to foster a strong sense of student belonging and aid in the academic and personal development of R.I.S.E. Gen1 students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and track student retention and graduation of R.I.S.E.
Gen1 students
- Ability to interpret data, write reports, identify trends and
patterns, and present findings
- Create assessments and reports for the following: student
tutoring, Academic Coaching program, Peer Mentoring program and
other duties as assigned
- Research best practices regarding first-generation
initiatives
- Assist with development of student support
programming
- Assist in the selection and supervision of Peer Mentors and
Peer Tutors
- Work collaboratively with the R.I.S.E. Student Support Services
program, staff and faculty across the institution, and external
community partners.
Required Qualifications:
* Master's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Counseling or a related discipline.
* At least 1 year of professional experience in college level academic counseling, career
counseling and/or financial advisement. - Experience with coordinating student programming and
events
- Understanding of Assessment and Program Evaluation best
practices
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research
methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong Presentation Skills
- Demonstrated sense of empathy and appreciation for
first-generation students
