Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Senior IT Director for the Division of Business Services - The IT Systems Project Manager plays a crucial role in managing internal IT technology refresh projects, applications, and systems while serving as a Systems and Security team member. This position is responsible for ensuring that the division's core services align with the security best practices established by Penn. Collaboration is critical, as the IT Systems Project Manager works closely with the IT Operations Manager and the IT Support team and interfaces with four Senior Business Systems Analysts who oversee various IT responsibilities within their respective departments. Additionally, the IT Systems Project Manager is a technical lead on projects and partners with the Information Services and Computing (ISC) team to advance multiple SecureIT-related initiatives.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Lead impactful internal projects as we transition to
ISC-managed environments, ensuring comprehensive documentation,
training, and effective communications throughout the process.
Collaborate closely with BSD IT and ISC to enhance the University's
SecureIT Program while driving the development of innovative future
projects and initiatives.
- Serve as the primary lead and subject matter expert on BigFix,
leveraging it as an orchestration engine for non-standard uses, as
well as ARS (Grouper) for Organizational Unit management, ensuring
alignment with the security requirements of the SecureIT Program.
Spearheaded technology evaluation teams within BSD IT support,
crafting detailed requirements documents and testing plans while
facilitating the selection and deployment of critical technologies,
including assessing and refreshing the MDT server post-migration to
the KITE domain.
- Foster a collaborative relationship with the Office of
Information Security to successfully implement CrowdStrike Falcon
Complete, assessing its overall impact on daily operations.
Proactively monitor and manage the Tenable.io dashboard, organizing
and prioritizing critical tasks in conjunction with the IT helpdesk
support team.
- Evaluate, manage, and support the division-wide rollout of
effective print management solutions while acting as an invaluable
technical resource for support staff, implementing strategies to
boost operational efficiencies. Regularly develop and update
Business Continuity documentation for BSD IT resources and
services, ensuring all modifications pertinent to the Secure IT
Program are accurately reflected.
- Engage with senior business systems analysts across the
division to bolster their business-specific applications and
workflows. Stand as a crucial point of escalation for senior IT
support specialists, providing expert assistance in diagnosing and
resolving intricate technical issues involving hardware, software,
and networks.
- Oversee, administer, and configure the ManageEngine Reporting
application to enhance its functionality within the KITE domain.
Actively participate in initiatives supporting data protection,
privacy, and security across the division, including the annual
Security and Privacy Impact Assessment (SPIA) and the Vendor
Security Technical Assessment and Risk (VSTAR)
evaluation.
- Support the division's compliance requirements, such as
adherence to Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards, as needed.
Engage in a range of BSD projects and campus technology teams,
occasionally taking the lead on specific projects and initiatives.
Attend industry conferences and seminars, along with completing
internal and external training programs to enhance project
management, interpersonal, and technical skills.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned,
constantly aiming for excellence in all endeavors.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree and 2-3 years of experience or an
equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
7-10 years experience is preferred.
Required: - Technical Support Skills: Experience supporting Windows, Mac,
and mobile platforms is required. Experience with information
security and endpoint management services is preferred. Strong
troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve technical
issues.
- Customer Service and Communications: This role requires strong
customer service skills and excellent interpersonal and
communication skills, both written and oral. An ability to present
technical materials clearly to both technical and non-technical
audiences is also required.
- Teamwork and Confidentiality: Candidates must be self-motivated
and able to work independently and as part of a team. The ability
to learn, adapt, and support new technologies efficiently and
effectively is required. Candidates are also required to maintain
confidentiality of sensitive materials.
Preferred: - Experience in an academic computing environment.
- Experience with information security services - CrowdStrike
experience desirable.
- Experience with endpoint management services - BigFix and JAMF
experience is desirable.
- Experience with Freshdesk is beneficial.
