Job Description

Oversee and manage the facilities maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of the University’s student housing consistent with established policies, procedures, goals and objectives. Supervise and provide leadership for staff performing housing maintenance and housekeeping operations. Position is designated “essential personnel” for emergency closings.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Considerable knowledge of facilities maintenance including electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, painting, carpentry repairs, and locksmithing. Familiarity with building codes. Ability to select, train, evaluate and supervise maintenance/ housekeeping staff. Ability to oversee medium size renovation projects and coordinate with project managers on major renovation and construction projects.

Special licenses, registration or certification

Valid driver’s license and insurable record.

Education or training

None

Level and type of experience

Considerable experience in facilities operations and maintenance. Considerable supervisory experience of larger groups in maintenance or construction setting.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)

Considerable experience in housing maintenance in an institutional setting, preferably Higher Education. Experience in supervising groups of at least 20. Experience with managing small to medium renovation projects that require coordination between multiple trades. Journeyman or Masters license in skilled trade area, preferably mechanical or electrical trade.

Conditions of Employment

The position is full-time and on-site.

Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.

This position is designated as sensitive. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate.
