Summary
A Junior Faculty position at the level of Instructor is available in the laboratory of Dr. Pengfei Liu in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine. We are seeking a highly motivated and independent individual to advance our research into diagnostic and therapeutic development for genetic disorders, with a particular focus on innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, including ASO and prime editing. The successful candidate will contribute critically to our lab's research efforts, developing and validating new methodologies in induced neuron (iN) systems and working on translational applications for personalized medicine.
The ideal candidate will have an established track record in cell biology, iPSC technology, and neuroscience, with strong skills in RNA sequencing analysis and assay development. Experience with animal and IRB protocols is essential, as well as a proven ability to lead research projects, supervise students and staff, and contribute to the lab's funding efforts.
Job Duties
- Manage and supervise lab projects to develop the iN system, demonstrating its applications in both diagnostics and therapeutic screening.
- Lead independent research on ASO and prime editing in various tissue types, including kidney and heart, and publish findings.
- Actively contribute to external funding applications, progress reports, and collaborative grant projects, supporting the lab's research funding.
- Ensure compliance with IACUC, IRB, and IBC protocols, submitting necessary reports and amendments.
- Provide supervision and support for manuscript and grant writing, as well as peer review.
- Oversee day-to-day lab operations, ensuring efficient workflow in research and animal experiments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, fostering the growth of the lab's innovative research directions in genetic and genomic medicine.
