The School of Health and Human Sciences is inviting applications for a
9-month, 100%-time, benefit eligible, tenure track position with rank of Assistant Professor in Sport and Recreation Management. The role of this faculty member will be to teach courses in the graduate Sport and Recreation Administration program as well as the undergraduate Sport and Recreation Management program. Successful applicants will establish an independent, externally funded research program, mentor student research, and participate in service responsibilities at the university and national levels. Appointment date will be no later than August 22, 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and research in undergraduate and graduate programs;
- Engage with sport and recreation industry to enhance program educational opportunities through experiential learning and internships;
- Conduct a focused line of scholarly activity;
- Pursue external funding for scholarly activities and publish in peer-reviewed journals;
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students;
- Provide service to the School of Health and Human Sciences, College of Education and Human Sciences and South Dakota State University.
The salary for thie position is commensurate with qualifications, minimum of $70,000. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays. Relocation benefits are available per university’s guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- PhD or equivalent in sport management, or related field by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
- Record of research publications and grantsmanship proportionate with experience.
- Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Teaching experience utilizing experiential learning and/or innovative teaching practices in higher education.
- Record of involvement in internally and/or externally funded grants
- Evidence of professional service
- Effective organizational skills
