Job Description

Nature and Level of work:
Maintain, service and repair small engines and related Landscape Services Equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and diagnose malfunctions in small engines and equipment. Repair and replace worn or defective parts. Inspect and test equipment on completion to confirm proper operation.
  • Maintain a stock of parts. Requisition, assemble, and sometimes fabricates parts as needed.
  • Service and maintain equipment per established preventative maintenance schedule or as directed.
  • Change accessory equipment on tractors and other small motor vehicles.
  • May repair and clean small hand tools; fabricate simple devices or parts to be used with hand tools and small power equipment. Clean and maintain work bench and immediate work area.
  • May drive truck to pick up and deliver supplies, personnel, and equipment.
  • Participate in the removal/treatment of snow/ice from the campus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

• A High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
• Minimum of four years actual work experience as a small engine mechanic, including apprenticeship or vocational training is required.
• Knowledge and developed skills in all phases of two cycle and four cycle engines, hydraulics, hydrostatic drives and transmissions. Skill in use of tools, equipment and materials of the trade.
• A driver’s license allowing legal operation of a motor vehicle in the state of Missouri is required.
• Ability on a regular basis:
- Grasp, lift, carry and set down medium to heavy objects (50- 75 lbs.).
- Observe and adjust small intricate valves, screws and other mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic adjustments.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $19.69 - $24.41 per hour

Grade: GGS-D
