The Title IX and Clery Compliance Investigator reports to the Director of Title IX and Clery Compliance, who has primary responsibility for the administration of university policies regarding sex/gender-based discrimination, sex/gender-based harassment, and sexual violence. The Investigator will assist in resolving complaints of sex/gender-based discrimination, sex/gender based harassment, and sexual violence involving students, faculty, staff, and third parties. When a complaint or incident report is filed, the Investigator will conduct a prompt and thorough investigation. The Investigator will act as a neutral party in the investigation and provide a detailed and unbiased report regarding the findings of the investigation. The Investigator will also provide students, employees, and third parties involved with allegations of sexual misconduct or pregnancy and parenting matters with supportive measures, as appropriate.

Serve as the primary investigator for complaints alleging sex or gender-based discrimination, sex or gender-based harassment, sexual violence (sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking) involving a faculty member, staff member, student, or third party. The Investigator will identify university policies relevant to a complaint and work closely with departments across campus to facilitate timely investigations. The Investigator will conduct a prompt, equitable, and impartial administrative investigation into complaints including identifying and interviewing parties and identifying, gathering and assessing information relevant to the investigation and apply the relevant policies and make findings of fact in individual cases. The Investigator will evaluate requests for reasonable supportive measures and manage all communications and official notices to those involved in the investigation process. The Investigator will actively foster and maintain a climate that is supportive of students, employees, and others.

Provide information to students, employees and others regarding the Sexual Harassment Policy and Regulation and the Pregnant and Parenting Policy; create and facilitate training/presentations on issues regarding Title IX, the Clery Act, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and bystander intervention for students, student groups, faculty, and staff incorporating the university’s nondiscrimination policies; identify and integrate best practices into the complaint resolution process; provide supportive measures for employees, students, and third parties involved in sexual misconduct or pregnancy and parenting matters; cultivate relationships with campus stakeholders (e.g., faculty, students, and staff); develop and maintain relationships and clear lines of communication with campus and community partners; collaborate with on and off- campus resources including law enforcement and victim services in resolving complaints and training collaborations; work with the Director of the Office of Title IX and Clery Compliance to ensure that the university’s processes, responses, and policies are consistent with federal and state laws and regulations related to compliance with non-discrimination laws and federal regulations. Stay abreast of current movements in the field of sexual misconduct investigations by participating in conferences, workshops, etc.; build relationships with colleagues at peer institutions; review current literature and research; participate in local, regional and/or national professional associations and organizations.

Assist with the development of university policies and procedures to effectuate appropriate compliance with Title IX, the Clery Act, and the Violence Against Women Act.
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Management Preferences: Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline or Juris Doctor from an accredited institution. Prior work experience in higher education. Background and training in Title IX or other federal and state non-discrimination, compliance, and workplace violence laws. Experience conducting investigations related to sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and/or gender-related violence in a higher-education setting or other related field. Highly skilled written and oral communication will be needed for individual meetings, reporting, and group presentations/outreach.
