Job Description
Clinic Responsibilities
- Assist in ensuring flow of clinic floor, appointments, and consultations
- Share in Nurse Practitioner appointments with Nurse Coordinator
- Familiarity with Hospital EMR
- Client education
- Teaching/Mentoring Students (and specialty nurses)
- Holter monitor placements, uploads, etc.
- Provide all aspects of nursing care
- Promote/enforce highest standards of nursing care, aseptic technique, SOP's, and housekeeping
- Patient triage, monitoring, and advocacy
- Pain level assessment
- Administering and monitoring sedations/recoveries for diagnostics/outpatient procedures
- Assembly, monitoring, & basic interpretation or maintenance of:
- ECG
- Pulse Oximetry
- Oxygen delivery systems (O2 masks, Nasal O2 canulas, Oxygen cages)
- Administration of medications via all routes
- Thorough medical documentation
- Collection/Submission of lab specimens
- CPCR
- All forms of venipuncture & placement of venous catheters
- Drug Calculations
- General equipment maintenance (Doppler, Pulse Ox, Echo (EPIC & Vivid I), ECG, Pacemaker Interrogators, Holter Units)
- Cleaning/stocking clinic area
- Assist in charge capture
Surgical Responsibilities:
- Basic surgical patient preparation
- Basic surgical equipment maintenance & sterilization
- Set up and breakdown of OR for cardio procedures
- Charge capture
- Familiarity with navigating the C-Arm
- Assist with general equipment maintenance/inventor
- TEE probe
- Power Injector
- Cleaning/Stocking Surgical Cabinets
- Share inpatient treatment care duties with Nurse Coordinator
- Provide all aspects of nursing care (see duties under clinic nurse) for:
- Pre-procedure Cardio patients
- ICU & ES Cardio patient care
- Other duties as assigned by Nurse Coordinator and Faculty Service Head

Qualifications
- CVT with a minimum 3 years' experience in veterinary
medicine
- Veterinary Technician C: CVT and 3-5 years of experience
Veterinary Technician D: CVT and 5-8 years of experience
Veterinary Technician E: CVT and 8 + years of experience - Prior veterinary cardiology experience preferred
- Strong medical knowledge base
- Requires strong communication and interpersonal
skills.
- Excellent organizational skills are essential
- Ability to multi-task while paying close attention to
detail
- Must be able to work independently.
Minimum starting salaries increase with each level. Relevant education, experience, skills, and licenses/ certifications are among the factors considered in salary offers.
