Summary

The section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is seeking a Research Technician II for Dr. Lindsay Celada Lab. Technician is sought to support laboratory investigations and perform the routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results. The lab is seeking highly self-motivated individuals to provide research support, technical assistance, and lab organization.

Job Duties
  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data
  • Conducts literature search and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments.
  • Selects, evaluates, and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Records daily lab experiments, meets with the PI weekly, plans weekly experiments.
  • Processes lung tissue samples, and performs western blotting, RT-qPCR, flow cytometry, IHC, and IF. Additional tasks include sterile tissue culturing, mouse breeding and harvesting.
  • Cooperates and works towards solutions that generally benefit all involved parties.
  • Works together with others to accomplish company objectives; promotes collaboration and partnerships.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of internal and/or external customer needs, both current and future.
  • Addresses complaints, makes realistic commitments, and effectively communicates needs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or two years of basic laboratory work.
  • Scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals is a plus.
  • Experience with laboratory mice.
  • Be able to perform lab experiments involving PCR, WB, cell culture, flow cytometry, IHC, IF and handling of mice.
  • Be able to do basic lab calculations that includes calculating concentrations, mass-to-volume conversions, and percent.
  • Has good organizational, communication and listening skills.
