JOB DESCRIPTION
The Head Volleyball Coach is responsible for all aspects of coaching a highly competitive NCAA Division II volleyball program. This includes, but is not limited to, recruiting student-athletes, coordinating practices and team activities, travel, and promotion of events and activities
RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities Include:
  • Recruit highly skilled student-athletes that fit the profile of the institution and are good citizens on campus, the playing field, and in the community.
  • Assign athletics scholarships within all budget and financial aid guidelines.
  • Carry out all aspects of the volleyball program necessary to accomplish objectives of the sport within the guidelines of the Department of Athletics, the Peach Belt Conference and NCAA Division II.
  • Comply with all Flagler College and NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
  • Oversee the conduct and discipline of student-athletes.
  • Arrange all team travel, including buses, vans, hotels, flights, and other potential accommodations.
  • Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and work with advising staff on campus to ensure academic success.
  • Create and adopt sportsmanship initiatives with the team on an annual basis.
  • Meet team fundraising minimums established by the Director of Athletics.
  • Ensure team is engaging the local community, participating in at least one community service event per year.
  • Select, hire, supervise and evaluate assistant coaches.
  • Conduct efficient and effective practice sessions, focusing on student-athlete development and competiveness.
  • Schedule contests and obtain game contracts with opposing teams.
  • Work closely with Athletics Compliance and the Office of Enrollment.
  • Prepare and report in a timely manner, particularly regarding operating budget, eligibility, compliance and travel documentation.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and care of Flagler College property.
  • Work within the team operational budget provided by Flagler administration.
  • Provide end-of-season documentation as required by the department.
  • Provide team handbook on an annual basis, clearly stating the rules and regulations of the team.
  • Attend monthly athletics department staff meetings.
  • Attend quarterly NCAA education sessions conducted by the Director of Compliance.
  • Participate in promotional activities geared towards promoting the volleyball program, the College, and Flagler Athletics.
  • Keep the Director of Athletics informed about the volleyball program.
  • Adhere to the core covenants of Flagler College Athletics, which are: Professionalism, Teamwork, Accountability, Sportsmanship, and Integrity.
  • Adhere to the mission statements of Flagler College and the Department of Athletics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications Include:
  • Bachelors degree.
  • 5 years collegiate volleyball coaching experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Masters degree.
  • 5 years successful collegiate head coaching experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Medium work: exerting up to 70 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping and repetitive motions.
  • Work is primarily performed on a volleyball court, classroom, or office setting.
  • Frequent travel is required for competition and recruiting.
  • Frequent hours outside the normal College work day, specifically early mornings, evenings, and weekends, is required.
