Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Assistant Professor - Clinical Scholar - Department of Psychiatry at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

We seek individuals with excellent leadership potential and initiative to develop inter-disciplinary treatment approaches. Priority will be given to applicants with specialization in addiction psychiatry or addiction medicine, and those having a background in prevention and treatment from a behavioral health perspective. Applicants with programmatic interests in treatment of opioid use disorder (e.g. buprenorphine) arising from illegal drug and prescription misuse, multi-modal treatment of other substance use disorders, chronic pain, sleep disorders, integrated behavioral healthcare that addresses psychiatric and medical comorbidities, special populations (e.g. persons living with HIV, pregnant females, at-risk youth, elderly, criminal offenders) and/or treatment settings (e.g. emergency department, primary care, infectious disease clinic, corrections) or health equity/disparities will provide excellent synergy with faculty expertise and activities.

Unique duties:

Primary responsibilities of this position involve (1) taking a leadership role in developing and expanding sustainable clinical service programs and providing exemplary, evidence-based interdisciplinary care in substance use disorders and co-occurring mental and physical health problems; (2) educating/training fellows, residents and medical students; and (3) scholarly interests/productivity and leading or contributing to clinical research

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a U.S. medical degree or equivalent (M.D. or D.O.), with post-doctoral credentialing in addiction psychiatry or addiction medicine, licensure (or license-eligible) to practice in the State of Michigan, and DEA licensure
