Description
The School of Computer Science and Data Analytics ( SCSDA ) in the College of Arts and Sciences ( CAS ) at the University of New England ( UNE ) invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Mathematics beginning August 4, 2025. The successful candidate will join a collegial, engaged team of faculty and professional staff in a school offering programs in computer science, data science, mathematics and statistics.

Responsibilities
The school seeks candidates to teach courses in mathematics that support the academic needs of STEM majors and also contribute to UNE’s core curriculum. The successful candidate will be able to teach a broad range of subjects in algebra, geometry, multivariate analysis, differential equations, discrete mathematics, numerical analysis, and mathematical statistics. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to teach additional courses in applied mathematics, statistics, data science and/or computer science based on the needs of the school.
The typical teaching load is the equivalent of 12 credits per semester. The successful candidate is expected to engage in curriculum development and participate in academic advising, recruiting, course and program assessment, scholarly activities and service to the school, college and University.
Qualifications
A master’s degree in mathematics, applied mathematics or closely related field is required at the time of appointment; preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. and a strong commitment to teaching, advising and mentoring. Applicants with training in mathematics education research, guided inquiry techniques, developmental mathematics curricula, and/or experience teaching statistics for life and health science majors are especially encouraged to apply.
