The School of Health and Human Sciences is seeking applications for a 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible, tenure-track position with the rank of Assistant Professor of Exercise Science to join our outstanding group of educators and researchers. The successful applicant will teach courses each academic year depending on the needs of the school, with the remaining workload dedicated to developing and maintaining an extramurally funded research agenda along with service to the community, school, university and profession. This position is supervised by the School Director of Health and Human Sciences and will start no later than August 22, 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the Exercise Science programs.
    • Teaching workload could include courses such as Advanced Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, ECG & Clinical Stress Testing, Clinical Exercise Physiology or oversight of student field experiences, dependent on applicant experience and area(s) of expertise.
  • Establish an independent, externally funded research program commensurate with workload allocated to research.
    • The workload distribution for this position is open to negotiation but will likely start around 45% research, 45% teaching and 10% service.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Provide professional service and leadership.
SALARY :
The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications, starting at $72,000. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays. Relocation benefits are available per university’s guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Doctoral degree in Exercise Science or closely related field completed by the date of appointment ( ABD applications welcome).
  • Record of research publications and grantsmanship proportionate to experience.
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Research contributions in chronic disease prevention and/or treatment through community programming.
  • Record of involvement in internally and/or externally funded grants.
  • Research interest aligned with federal health research priorities.
  • Certifications such as ACSM -EP, ACSM - CEP and/or others appropriate for specialization.
  • Record of professional service.
