Job Description:

The Coordinator of Greek Life and Student Leadership will collaborate with the Assistant Dean to manage and provide support to Coppin’s Fraternity/Sorority and Student Leadership system in support of the University's mission. This position will be responsible for advising multiple governing councils, programmatic creation and implementation, and cultivating leadership development opportunities for CSU students. As an Office of Student Life member, the coordinator must demonstrate a commitment to departmental collaboration through building relationships

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and advise the membership intake process for Greek and Fellowship organizations:

  • Update deadlines and requirements biannually.

  • Verify interested students’ academic and conduct eligibility.

  • Communicate and create correspondences to chapter members, on and campus advisors, graduate advisors, local, regional, and national officers.

  • Maintain NPHC and non-NPHC fraternal natured organizations’ membership intake related records.

  • Facilitate Campus Wide Information Session for membership into a fraternity, sorority, or fraternal natured organization.

  • Manage all intake documentation.

  • Serve as the primary advisor to the campus chapter National Pan Hellenic Council.

  • Facilitate meetings with NPHC to foster mentoring and leadership development. relationships among students affiliated within the NPHC organizations.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with national/local chapter of NPHC.

  • Advise group regarding programming/events.

  • Advise Student Government Association: ​

  • Assist SGA with policies/procedures surrounding student leadership governance.

  • Manage elections process for SGA (including Class Officers).

  • Work directly with SGA as well as Class Officers for programming/leadership.

  • Attend conferences/events with SGA as needed.

  • Ensure MHEC and USM Representatives are secured and active in necessary groups/councils

  • Manage Student Leadership

  • Provide leadership activities /opportunities for student organizations and leaders.

  • Develop specific ideas for commuter and non-traditional students.

  • Develop/ maintain leadership institute.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience (including graduate assistantship level work) in a fraternity and sorority program, working knowledge of the various governance systems/umbrella groups (NIC, NPHC, NPC, and NALFO) is required

  • Master's degree required, preferably in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or Student Affairs.



SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of student development theory and ability to apply theory, research, and best practices to advising, training, and educational efforts.

  • Utilization of AFA's Core Competencies for the Excellence in the Profession and knowledge of NASPA, ACPA, and CAS standards.

  • Prefer demonstrated knowledge and experience with a student organization’s software management programs.

  • Create environments that value, respect, and engage with students of different backgrounds and facilitate interactions across differences for the fraternity/sorority community.

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.

  • Ability to think critically, embrace complexity, handle competing priorities, balance multiple projects successfully, and adapt to trends.

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to connect the work to the fraternal purpose and effectively communicate the value of the Fraternity and Sorority experience to stakeholders.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Maintain regular attendance and closely follows office reporting policies and procedures. The director must be flexible in terms of working after normal work hours on occasions when the job tasks require; travel as needed.
