PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The Institutional Research Coordinator oversees the collection, analysis, and reporting of institutional data to support decision-making, strategic planning, and compliance reporting. This position ensures the integrity of data and provides accurate, timely, and actionable insights to the university's leadership.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

As a key member of the Institutional Research team, the Institutional Research Coordinator collaborates with university leadership, faculty, and staff to develop and maintain institutional data systems, analyze trends, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. This role also involves fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making across the institution.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate and manage the collection, organization, and analysis of institutional data to support internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and update dashboards and reports that track key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with institutional goals and priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation reporting requirements, including IPEDS and other mandatory submissions.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of institutional trends, such as enrollment, retention, graduation rates, and academic program performance, to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with university departments to design and implement surveys and studies that support institutional goals.
  • Manage data governance processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and security of institutional data.
  • Train and assist faculty and staff in accessing and interpreting institutional data and reports.
  • Support grant applications and external funding proposals with data and analysis as needed.
  • Work closely with leadership to anticipate and address emerging data needs and priorities.
  • Stay current with best practices in institutional research, data analytics, and higher education trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support institutional goals.


  • QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: Masters’s degree in education, statistics, data analytics, or a related field preferred.
    • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in institutional research, data analytics, or a related field, preferably in higher education.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • Proficiency in data management tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, SPSS, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms).
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and present findings clearly to diverse audiences.
    • Thorough understanding of higher education reporting requirements (e.g., IPEDS, accreditation standards).
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting data and reports to non-technical audiences.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
    • Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical data use.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Work is typically performed in an office setting with no significant physical effort required.
    • Minimal physical risk associated with the role.
