Position Summary & Description

Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applications for the position of Human Resources Manager (MGR170).

The Human Resources Manager (MGR170) will report to the Assistant Director of Human Resources and play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of the human resources function and processes within the University. This role involves managing the complete payroll processing cycle, which includes the administration of the University payroll system (SAP), adherence to federal and state tax regulations, and compliance with university policies and Collective Bargaining Agreements. In addition, this position also assists with the administration of the State System, Commonwealth, and collective bargaining agreement's (CBA) paid and unpaid leave programs, as well as other HR related duties as assigned.

This position will be a key resource for employees regarding payroll related inquiries and providing guidance and support on deductions, leave and timekeeping. A proactive approach to problem solving and ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines is essential for success in this role.

This is a non-represented management position.

Position Qualifications

MINIMUM:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field or a combination of education and work experience that provides a foundation for successful completion of job functions.
  • Two (2) years payroll processing experience.

PREFERRED:
  • Two (2) years payroll processing experience of comparable workforce on an enterprise system.
  • Prior supervisory experience.

Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.

Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s).

Essential Functions

The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:

  1. Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, professional, harmonious working relationships with others.
  2. This position requires work outside normal business hours including evenings and weekends as needed to partner effective, provide prompt customer service and/or as requested by senior HR management.
  3. Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
  4. Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public.
  5. Use of variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, auxiliary printers, and similar equipment.
  6. Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
  7. Duties performed may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
  8. Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
  9. Follow oral and written instructions
