Clinical Assistant Professor - School Leadership

Minimum Qualifications
- A doctorate in Educational Leadership or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- P-12 school administrator experience.
- Ability to teach leadership courses in the MSA program (online, face-to-face, and hybrid delivery) and assist in leading program development initiatives.
- Licensure in K-12 school administration or licensure eligibility with interest and aptitude to remain current on NC principal licensure requirements.
- Possess strong communication and organizational
skills.

The program invites applications for this clinical faculty position in School Administration with areas of expertise in Organizational Leadership, Strategic Leadership, Instructional Leadership, Human Resource Leadership, and all 7 NC School Executive Standards. Preference will be given to individuals with experience working with the NC Principal Fellows Program.
License/Certification Required
Licensure in K-12 school administration or licensure eligibility with interest and aptitude to remain current on NC principal licensure requirements.
Description of the Department or Unit
The Department of Media, Career Studies and Leadership Development is one of five departments in the Reich College of Education, offering programs that prepare students for employment in a wide variety of teaching, administrative and service roles, as well as employment or career advancement in business and industry. The department includes programs in Career and Technical Education; the newly formed Organizational Leadership & Learning program; Media, Technology and Learning Design; Library Science; International Leadership; and School Administration.
The School Administration program offers the Master of School Administration (MSA) degree, the Graduate Certificate School (Building-level) Leadership (GCSL), and the Education Specialist in Educational Administration (EdS/EdD) degree leading to superintendent license. The MSA and the GCSL programs lead to the North Carolina principal's license. The School Administration Program also offers the NC Principal Fellows Program, a full-time MSA program. The EdS/EdD degree requires a pre-requisite of the MSA degree or master degree level principal license with a master's degree and leads to the North Carolina superintendent license (011).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching
- Extensive teaching in fully online courses.
- Develop and deliver graduate courses related to school administration and leadership.
- Create and update curriculum and assessment materials to reflect advancements in the field.
- Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment that encourages critical thinking and creativity.
- Administration for NC Principal Fellows Program
- Collect and analyze data to support NC Principal Fellows Program decisions
- Engage in high-impact research in areas related to school administration and NC Principal Fellows Programs.
- Sustain external funding opportunities through grant writing to support NC Principal Fellows Programming.
- Advise and mentor NC Principal Fellows cohorts
- Collaborate with colleagues on innovative projects and initiatives.
- Engage with the broader academic and professional communities
through outreach and service.
- Coach mentor principals who supervise NC Principal Fellows
- Support coaching efforts with the AppState Executive Principal Fellows Coach.
- Support Principal Fellows students in professional coaching.
