The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of Purified TDP-43 biochemistry, reconstitution of TDP-43 phase separation, expertise in c9DPRs, therapeutic oligonucleotides, and disaggregases. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Responsibilities may include driving a project concerning TDP-43 biochemistry, reconstitution of TDP-43 phase separation, determining effects of c9DPRs, therapeutic oligonucleotides, and disaggregases on TDP-43 aggregation and phase separation.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop collaborative and independent research programs, co-supervision of postdoctoral fellows, students, and research staff, coordinating NIH-funded grant efforts with local, national, and international collaborators, and participation in writing grants, reports, and manuscripts.
