Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is currently seeking an Executive Director. The Executive Director in Nursing, Health Professions and Social Science provides strategic leadership and operational coordination for healthcare and social science programs within the College for Online and Continuing Education (COCE). The Executive Director is responsible for defining and aligning the vision and direction of COCE healthcare and social science programs with the mission and goals of COCE and the university. He or she serves as the liaison with the traditional university campus and collaborates closely with COCE marketing, advising, course development, learning resources and outcomes and assessment departments. The Executive Director must be well-versed in, and connected to, the national conversation regarding higher education, healthcare and social sciences educational standards. Additionally, the Executive Director must demonstrate an understanding of the needs and expectations of the higher education and employment sector for these disciplines and how those needs impact education. He or she is expected to drive new revenue sources by developing and bringing to market new programs, courses and initiatives. In addition, the Executive Director oversees student success and is adept at using data that focuses on student proficiency, outcomes and persistence to drive decision making and continuous improvement. The Executive Director oversees a team of associate and assistant deans who in conjunction with the Executive Director are responsible for the curriculum, full time lead faculty, and adjunct faculty as well as student success. The Executive Director reports to the Senior Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Set vision and strategic goals and develop an action plan to enhance current programs and implement new initiatives
- Oversee courses and programs to ensure that course and program outcomes are appropriate and that the courses are rigorous and taught by qualified faculty who can help students succeed in the online environment
- Analyze emerging opportunities in other potential programs
- Maintain a national presence within higher education and healthcare and social science arenas
- Ensure that COCE programs meet NEASC regional accreditation standards as well as program accreditation standards such as CCNE, CAHIIM or CACREP
- Collaborate closely with COCE marketing, advising, course development, faculty training and development, learning resources and outcomes and assessment departments
- Create and nurture a results oriented environment that focuses on measurable outcomes
- Oversee recruitment and evaluation of full time lead faculty and adjunct faculty to ensure a philosophical match, real-world experience and appropriate credentials
- Ensure the best faculty possible by helping create faculty development initiatives and faculty training and by mentoring new faculty members and monitoring performance
- Participate in the creation and oversight of an instructor/student model geared toward student retention and success and institutional growth
The successful applicant must have:
- Ph.D. or doctoral degree in related discipline
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leading a department or division in an online environment
- Demonstrated experience developing new programs, implementing new initiatives and recruiting and evaluating faculty
- 4-7 years of successful leadership and management experience administering academic programs
- Familiarity with professional accreditation in the healthcare and counseling programs
