UMFA Caf Barista Staff
Job Summary
The Utah Museum of Fine Arts is located on the campus of the University of Utah and offers visitors the opportunity to explore over 5,000 years of human creativity with a collection of over 20,000 objects and art works from classic Greek and Roman antiquities to cutting-edge, contemporary art. Founded in 1914, the UMFA is the state of Utah's art museum, creating exhibitions and programs that serve a wide array of audiences. The UMFA is housed in the award-winning Marcia and John Price Museum Building.
Candidates for this position will be primarily assigned to the front of house, but will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of kitchen duties, food preparation, recipes, etc. The UMFA Cafe Barista Staff is responsible for delivering excellent customer service and expertly prepared cafe food and beverage. They must maintain a high level of cleanliness and demonstrate current Museum knowledge.
Responsibilities
Barista staff will require a Utah Food Handler's permit (UMFA will provide if necessary)
Barista staff's primary responsibilities are as follows:a. Prepares café beverages, handles cash/credit transactions and provides customer serviceb. Proficient in espresso machine operation, beverage recipe preparation and overall presentationc. Prepare menu items in a timely fashion according to recipe and customer needsd. Assist with catering and event preparation as appropriatee. Accomplish opening and closing tasks both independently and in small teamsf. Receive deliveries; check for accuracy and approve packing slipsg. Restock/check inventory levels of products and supplies, notify supervisor of needs, remove expired inventoryh. Clean and maintain front of house and café equipmenti. Remove all trash and food debris dailyj. Maintain high levels of personal hygieneDemonstrates museum knowledge:a. Responsible for general knowledge of Museum operationsb. Awareness of current exhibitions and programsc. Receives updates via email, reviews general calendar and responds to emaild. Assist guests with calendar, exhibition, program and event questions
Minimum Qualifications
Current Food Handler's Permit within one month of employment; must be able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in English; and a commitment to providing excellence in service required. Six months food handlers' experience is preferred.
Preferences
A successful candidate possesses exceptional customer service skills, is a self-starter with a dedication to quality, presentation and cleanliness. Reliability and dependability are a must.Previous experience in food and beverage, cash handling and customer service.

Work Schedule Summary: Currently looking for eligibility for Mondays & Wednesdays 12-clThis position is 10-19 hours per week and may require weekends and some evenings. Hours of operation: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (8:00 pm on Wednesday) Sat-Sun 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.Shifts vary based upon the availability of other staff members.
