Open Date: Jan 06, 2025

Description
The Williams College Department of Political Science invites applications for a one-year appointment in the 2025 - 2026 academic year, as Visiting Assistant Professor in Political Science. We seek individuals who can teach courses in comparative politics, especially those with an East Asia, Africa, or other regional focus. The ability to teach introduction to comparative politics is required. The ability to teach courses in international relations is a plus. The teaching load is four courses, split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented identities or those whose experiences and perspectives will enhance our commitment to academic excellence and innovation to apply.

Candidates should have the Ph.D. completed by June 2025. Application items should include: a cover letter detailing teaching experience and competencies as well as current scholarly interests; two syllabi of classes taught or planned to be taught; a curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation; teaching evaluations accompanied by comparative or statistical context (if available); and a writing sample of only one article or chapter. We ask you to write in your cover letter about your ability to work effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.

We will begin to review applications on February 1st, but will consider submissions until the search is completed. All application materials should be submitted through Interfolio [apply.interfolio.com/160837]. Fax and email applications will not be not accepted. Inquiries may be sent to Erin Malloy at emb8@williams.edu. All offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background check.
