Job Description Summary
Staff -level Senior Biostatistician supporting Division of Cardiology Studies. Provide support in highly technical areas related to statistical and data management needs. Assist with writing methods sections and power calculations for grant proposals, manuscripts and abstracts. Coordinate statistical activities with research project managers. Conduct appropriate statistical analyses in SAS, R, SPSS, or other suitable statistical software tool, including interpreting, preparing graphs and tables, and presenting results. Assist with periodic reports (DSMB, NIH or other sponsor reports) and clinicaltrials.gov requirements. Read and review appropriate biomedical and clinical research. Oversee various data management projects using the Qualtrics for surveys and REDCap for databases. Coordinate the REDCap Usersgroup meetings and serve as a technical resource for Qualtrics, REDCap and biostatistical software related issues. As statistical and data management demands increase, assist with the development and staffing of a more formal Data Management and Statistical Unit.
Job Description
This position is contingent upon favorable funding.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage administrative and statistical activities with
research project managers. Train, supervise, and evaluate staff
within project disciplines. Track work scope and budget to insure
the successful completion of the project within the designated
budget.
- Assist with grant proposal development by writing the data
analysis plan, generating and summarizing the power analysis and
assessing the scope of work and developing the appropriate budget
justification.
- Design, develop, test, implement and document statistical
programming in high-level statistical software
packages.
- Develop, document, and maintain analytical data files, with
variables derived from primary databases, suitable structured for
statistical analyses.
- Oversee various data management projects using the REDCap
databases. Coordinate the REDCap users group meetings and serve as
a technical resource for SAS or REDCap related
issues.
- Conducts appropriate statistical analysis, including
interpretation and explanation of statistical techniques used,
assumptions made, and generalization of results. Statistical issues
may be complex in nature and require non-standard programming
techniques to resolve.
- Documents methods and results through memoranda and reports
communicating findings to project team members. Write and edit
statistical methods section of manuscripts and abstracts for
presentations and publications.
- Attend professional meetings, workshop, and seminars. Read
and review appropriate biomedical and clinical research literature
necessary for effective collaboration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and 7 to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
