Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Vice Dean of Marketing and Communications, the Director of Content Strategy plans, develops, and executes the school-wide integrated content strategy to further Penn GSE's priorities. The person in this role partners with teams across the School, and University, as necessary, including but not limited to senior faculty and administration in Admissions and Student Services, Office of Research and Faculty Affairs, University and School DAR, the Dean's Office, academic programs, and others to determine and inform timely priorities. The successful candidate will be a strong writer able to tell a story in 3000 words or 280 characters, translate information into actionable items, and develop content for fulfillment across multiple platforms, channels, and publications, including social media, digital display screens, the School's website, GSE's magazine, and more.

Job Description
Job Responsibilities
Content Strategy and Development
- In conjunction with the Vice Dean, plans, develops, and executes GSE's integrated content strategy, utilizing multiple platforms and channels for distribution in support of the School's goals and the overall elevation of the brand.
- Working with Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy, develop content strategies that correlate to and support school recruiting and enrollment goals.
- Working with Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) leadership, develop content strategies that correlate to and support fundraising, engagement, and other DAR goals.
- Partners with teams across the school to ensure that collateral and written content is brand-aligned.
- Conducts regular focus groups and meetings with students and other constituencies as deemed necessary to inform content strategies.
- Leads the editorial and content development for the school's many platforms and channels, including, but not limited to, print and digital collateral, social media, website, digital display screens, etc.
- Shapes and contextualizes written content to meet school priorities and support marketing objectives.
- Flexible, resourceful, and strategic in the development of different kinds of writing required of the position, including brand voice and messaging, long-form content, web content, social media content, etc.
- Communicates the Penn GSE brand and articulates what it stands
for to a variety of constituencies across a wide
audience.
Planning and Scheduling
- Leads the school's social media strategy, creating and maintaining a plan and schedule for content development and distribution in close collaboration with MarComm colleagues and partners across the school.
- Creates and maintains a regular plan and schedule for developing content to be distributed across the school's many digital screens.
- Works closely with the Penn GSE magazine staff to assist with
the content plan and production timeline for each issue
Time and Project Management
- Manage multiple writing assignments and projects, often involving multiple review processes and tight deadlines.
- Organize and manage assignments and projects, from concept to completion, with faculty and staff across multiple departments and teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years related experience in writing, social media, and content strategy, preferably in higher education or an agency setting.
- Must possess the ability to initiate and implement projects with deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships.
- Creative thinker and team player, possessing integrity, discretion, and excellent judgment.
- Brings a positive attitude and willingness to help other team members.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
