Rhode Island College invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor, Instruction and Assessment Librarian, Adams Library. This is a full-time, academic year, 3-year limited position.

 

The individual will provide vision and collaborative leadership for and participates in the Library instruction program. Leadership responsibilities include promoting alignment of Library’s instructional activities with the Library’s instruction plan and student learning outcomes, as well as academic program learning outcomes; facilitating communication and shared development for library instruction activities; and leading assessment and reporting activities related to instruction. In addition, this position participates in the Library’s liaison program and is responsible for providing collection development and workshops, orientation, information literacy instruction, and research consultation services for students and faculty, primarily for the Zvart Onanian School of Nursing, physical, biological and health sciences programs. Some evening and/or weekend work is required.

Required qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent. Demonstrated teaching experience, preferably in a higher education or academic library setting Demonstrated ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a team leader, as a team member, and independently Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in a variety of settings and modalities (e.g. in-person, online, individual instruction, group instruction) Demonstrated commitment to public service, with experience in providing library reference and research support using a variety of modalities Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends in information literacy and assessment Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse populations Demonstrated experience working in diverse groups and demonstrated contributions to cultivating equity and inclusion in an education and/or library setting Excellent organizational skills

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in assessment to ensure continuous evaluation and improvement Experience in providing instruction and research assistance to nursing and health science programs Experience with collection development in an academic library Experience in academic libraries Experience using SpringShare software Experience with HTML and CSS Bilingual
