Job Summary/Basic Function

The purpose of the Academic Coordinator is to assist in the implementation and development of the federally funded TRIO Upward Bound program. The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for high school individuals from disadvantaged background. The critical elements of the position include: identifying and recruiting program participants, assist low-income and first generation-generation high school students through the academic pipeline from high school to pos-secondary enrollment, implementing program activities to achieve program objectives, and maintaining accurate and complete participant records.

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree

Required Related Experience

Two (2) years full time in advising, counseling, or program coordination related positions. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in promoting secondary school enrollment persistence, increasing secondary school graduation rates, promoting college degree attainment rates of low-income potential first-generation college students.

Desirable Related Experience

Master’s degree. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in promoting secondary school enrollment persistence, increasing secondary school graduation rates, promoting college degree attainment rates of low-income potential first-generation college students.
