Job Description

The Honors Program Director is the lead worker to the Honors Associate Director and Honors Associate Director/Fellowships Coordinator and collaborates with both positions in fulfilling honors programming, teaching courses, advising, supporting student portfolio development, and completing other administrative responsibilities. The Honors Program Director leads program administration and curriculum development and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in any discipline (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application).
  • Three or more years of experience leading student engagement in a higher education environment upon first day of appointment
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

Preferred Qualification
  • Ed.D., or Ph.D. (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application).
  • Three or more years of experience working with, or on behalf of, an Honors Program or similar higher education student engagement experience
  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum development and assessment
  • Demonstrated familiarity with competency-based and reflective learning practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess student writing.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and operating within cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of college student development, transitional issues, mentorship, leadership, and highly motivated students.
  • Demonstrated understanding of FERPA, university regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and disseminate a wide range of information in verbal, printed, and electronic formats to a variety of audiences.

  • Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating in and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

  • The Director works some evenings and weekends to help direct and coordinate student activities and attend recruiting events.
  • The Director attends national conferences and other professional development related to honors education, as well as other professional development opportunities which may involve overnight travel.
