Music Education: Full-Time Instructor or Assistant Professor, non-tenure-track,
one-year position beginning August 2015. The Music Education Department at Syracuse University seeks an innovative general music specialist to join our faculty in the 2015-2016 academic year. Responsibilities of the position will include teaching courses in elementary and secondary general music methods, foundations of music education, assessment in music, coordinating the weekly music education seminar/lecture series, supervising student teachers, and advising the campus chapter of NAfME. Other responsibilities for this position include academic advising and participating in governance and service to the institution. A mentor will be assigned to advise and guide the successful applicant. Qualifications include a completed doctorate (ABD considered), documented successful K-12 and collegiate teaching experience, and active engagement in appropriate professional organizations. This position, which resides in the Setnor School of Music, is a dual-appointment within the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the School of Education.
