The Associate Director of Financial Aid provides general oversight of daily office operations, working in consultation with the director to manage all financial aid activities and processes. As a team member, s/he provides assistance and outreach to current and prospective students, parents, staff, and the community at large. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid and requires detailed technical knowledge of federal and state Title IV regulations and database systems, and considerable contact with students, parents, visitors, and other staff members to comply with policies and regulations and attain university goals. The Associate Director requires demonstrated superb communication skills and will provide support to, and occasionally represent, the Director. This position will be responsible for the administration of at least one major financial aid program (federal and/or state) and maintain a proportional caseload of financial aid applicants.

Attention to detail, accuracy, and knowledge of financial aid regulations are required. This position requires a high degree of independence and efficiency as well as technical ability.

• Administer the Direct Loan Program, including file management, disbursement, and reconciliation, in coordination with the Finance Office.
• Administer the alternative loan file management and disbursement process, communicating with lenders as needed.
• Coordinate financial aid awarding for School of Pharmacy students, including individual contact with doctoral students, consultation with Associate Dean, and communication with pre-Pharmacy students.
• Routinely process data file communication between PowerFAIDS and CAMS databases to transmit and disburse aid to students’ accounts.
• Process and package financial aid for student caseload. Monitor and update student financial aid packages based on changes in enrollment level, budget adjustments, additional aid, etc. Communicate changes in eligibility to students in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Identify and recommend changes in procedures to improve and/or expedite financial aid process (both general and student-specific).
• Advise prospective and enrolled students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, packaging policies, costs, billing process, indebtedness, and money management.
• Answer inquiries to financial aid email account including basic inquiries and serve as a backup for incoming calls and front desk reception duties.
• Conduct outreach efforts to schools and college access programs in the region, including information nights, agency events, and admissions recruitment events.
• Act on behalf of the director in her/his absence regarding all operational matters as warranted.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the purpose and initiatives of the Financial Aid Office and the University.


COMPETENCIES
? Knowledge of federal Title IV statute and regulations; state(s) financial aid regulations; university academic and financial policies; and knowledge of industry best practices.
? Ability to effectively interact with students and parents calmly and graciously under difficult personal situations, and be capable of explaining University policies to students and parents.
? Working knowledge of financial aid software databases, as well as Microsoft Office & Excel

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
? Bachelor’s degree in education, business, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
? Significant experience in university financial aid administration
? Evidence of commitment student service and success;
? Demonstrated ability to work well with students, faculty, staff campus wide;
? Ability to perform occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work.

? Knowledge of student enterprise information system
? Familiarity with universities offering both undergraduate and graduate level programs
