As a member of the professional staff in the Office of Undergraduate Studies reporting directly to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, the Assistant Dean serves as the principal point of contact with the Office for a cohort of approximately 900-950 upper-class students and their faculty advisors and instructors, monitoring and supporting the academic progress and personal welfare of these students and working with them to enhance their academic experience at Case Western Reserve University. The Assistant Dean is also responsible for advising about and coordinating the nomination process for nationally-competitive fellowship and scholarship competitions and for other scholarship and prize competitions. In addition, the Assistant Dean takes the lead in planning programming aimed at second-year students, working closely with Student Affairs offices to promote a unified second-year experience. The Assistant Dean participates in the broad range of activities and programs offered by the Office of Undergraduate Studies in support of the overall mission of the Office.
