College Accountant

SUNY Cortland

SUNY Cortland’s Business Office seeks candidates for the position of College Accountant. The successful candidate will perform, either directly or indirectly through subordinates, all College accounting and financial reporting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and requirements of SUNY and other State oversight agencies. This includes but is not limited to accounting activity related to educational programs, grants, contracts, interagency activity, athletics, affiliated centers and institutes, and financial aid programs including graduate assistantships. Some travel as necessary for interagency collaboration, professional development and networking.  

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or similar, with several years' experience in a business office; general ledger accounting experience; fluent in MS Excel and/or other accounting software; sound judgment and good critical thinking and problem solving skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; proven record of successful interactions with a variety of constituencies.  

Preferred Qualifications: SUNY experience is highly desirable; higher education experience;
Background with NYS accounting procedures and practices and systems (SFS)
