**This is a three year term position**
The Access Coordinator serves as an important member of the staff of the Office of Disability Services (ODS), with responsibility for coordinating all physical and sensory accommodations for undergraduate and graduate students registered with the Office. In this capacity, the Access Coordinator identifies appropriate professional consultants (sign language interpreters, PCA and CART, etc.) and student workers (note-takers, scribes, etc.), and monitors delivery of services and payments.
The Access Coordinator serves as a liaison to other campus offices regarding ADA compliance for programs and services. S/he works closely with the Vice Provost for Institutional Equity and Diversity and other administrators in the Offices of the Dean of the College and Graduate School, Design and Construction, University Health Services, Information Technology, and Human Resources. S/he may support cross-operational committees, deliver trainings, develop communications materials, and/or serve as a resource regarding the University community's understanding of disability issues and obligation to maintain compliance.
The Access Coordinator reports to the Director and Associate Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support the academic and physical accommodations of students registered with the Office of Disability Services
* Hire and manage outside professionals including interpreters and personal care assistants
* Hire and oversee the management of student note takers, readers, scribes, and resource assistants; manage payroll and invoice payments for these student workers and independent consultants
* Arrange CART (remote and live) and braille
* Oversee document conversion process
* Manage SharePoint site for interpreting assignments
* Assist with the development and delivery of training related to accessibility and ADA compliance
* Train staff and students on the use of adaptive technologies
* Establish relationships and serve as resource to all academic units pertaining to accessibility
* Facilitate development and implementation of accessibility initiatives and ADA compliance for campus partners by supporting policy development, strategic planning and coordination
* Act as steward for accessibility by cataloging current barriers and new projects as they are identified and work with appropriate campus partners to resolve outstanding issues
* Develop initiatives to promote awareness of ODS on campus
* Identify connections across University to support disability awareness
A highly motivated self-starter, the Coordinator will possess:
* A Bachelor's Degree
* 1-3 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in a post-secondary setting.
* Demonstrated experience with the ADA and other relevant laws.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently within a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and effectively manage competing priorities.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and cross cultural competence.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated experience with assistive technology and
* Experience in a highly competitive university.
* A flexible work schedule and the ability to work off hours and/or weekends during peak periods are required.
The final candidate must successfully pass a background check.
