Research Assistant
Job Summary
The University of Utah College of Health and Department of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training is seeking an individual to support research studies evaluating telehealth rehabilitation for persons with chronic pain. The primary responsibilities of this person are to enroll participants, track retention and compliance with follow-up assessments and perform data collection activities. They will interact with patients receiving care at Community Health Centers and other health clinics throughout the state of Utah and intermountain west region, and with other research staff on the study team. Because of the patient populations involved in these studies, the persons working in these positions should be able to communicate in both Spanish and English.
This position is funded by grants from the federal government.
Responsibilities
1. Screen patients for study eligibility based on study criteria
2.Conduct telephone calls to patients to introduce the study and offer the opportunity to enroll in the study
3.Consent and enroll patients by phone
4.Assist in scheduling patients for follow-up study treatment sessions and assessments
5. Data entry into REDCap study database
6.Documentation of all communications with study participants
7. Identify and report adverse events and protocol deviations.
8. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Social or Behavioral Science, Liberal Arts, or a field related to the area of research, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); one year of experience in research and analytical techniques; demonstrated statistical and quantitative analysis experience; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
Preferences
Able to communicate in both English and Spanish
Bachelor's degree in a Social or Behavioral Science, Liberal Arts, or a field related to the area of research, or equivalency;
One year of experience in research.
Completion of University RED Clinical Certification within two months of hire required.
Completion of CITI Human Subjects and Good Clinical Practice Training within one month of hire required.
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written.
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA and IRB regulations; an understanding of research procedures; and the ability to function independently is preferred.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Experience with human subjects research
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software programs.
