PS Cardiovascular Perfusionist
Job Summary
The University of Utah is looking for a strong team player, hard worker, and an individual with a desire to help the program succeed. The University of Utah Hospital performs approximately 1000+ cardiac cases per year. We are involved in a wide variety of cardiac cases including, but not limited to: CABG, valve, LVAD, RVAD, heart and lung transplantation, NRP, complex aortic cases, Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy, adult congenital, etc. Perfusion also provides services related to auto-transfusion, component therapy, coagulation testing, TAVR's and HIPEC. There is minimal involvement with ECMO and occasionally Intra-aortic Balloon pumps. We are affiliated with the University of Utah School of Medicine which has a rich history of providing excellent medical training and provides the opportunity to teach and train upcoming perfusion students through its Masters level Perfusion Program. All clinical perfusionists will be part of the clinical education of these students and may also have the opportunity to teach didactically in the classroom. On-call responsibilities during the week, as well as weekends, and holidays are divided amongst the team.
These duties described are generally descriptive but not all-inclusive.
Responsibilities
1. Responsible for all clinical aspects of perfusion services including cardio pulmonary support so saving
2. Administer Pharmacologic agents through the circuit
3. Keeps appropriate record in compliance with all regulatory and university policies
4. Submits appropriate documentation for credentialing on annual basis
5. Works closely with OR manager and clinical nurse coordinator to ensure compliance with all operating room policies and procedures
Performance Requirements PersonalMust be in good physical and mental health. Must be able to push heavy equipment and lift or move supplies. Must be able to work in high stress and emergent situations. Must be able to maintain solid interpersonal relationships. Must be able to arrive at the hospital within 45 minutes of being called.ProfessionalMust be able to work in highly stressful conditions with exposure to blood and blood products, needles, sharp instruments, possible exposure to infectious disease and blood-borne pathogens, as well as exposure to anesthetic agents. The individual must be able to work unpredictable hours and assume call responsibilities as assigned. Must be able to perform duties as an individual as well as part of a team.EducationMust maintain their personal credentialing and licensure set forth by the ABCP, state, and employer.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a formal academic training program in cardiovascular perfusion.
- Current certification by the American Board of cardiovascular
perfusion.
Care is appropriate to the population served.
