Orthopaedic Pediatric Sports Medicine Surgeon

Details

The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an opening for a tenure track faculty position for a fellowship trained Orthopaedic Pediatric Sports Medicine Surgeon. The rank will be determined based on the chosen candidate's qualifications. The successful applicant will be part of a busy sports and pediatric service that cares for pediatric athletes within an outstanding academic Orthopaedic Department. Team coverage will be an expected aspect of the work performed. The candidate will be expected to assist in building a comprehensive sports medicine program to serve the Intermountain West.

Minimum requirements include completion of a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and a one-year advanced fellowship training in operative sports medicine plus board certification or board eligibility. Additional fellowship training in pediatric orthopaedics will be considered although the clinical practice will be focused on sports medicine.

Interest and experience in clinical outcomes research and/or basic science research focused on Pediatric Sports Medicine is expected. Applicants should have a sincere desire to develop and mentor others to develop focused clinical, research and educational programs in musculoskeletal disorders, which will include publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at national meetings.

Overall, candidates need to have demonstrated an exceptional academic interest and a clear track record of excellence in all aspects of orthopaedics, including clinical care, education, and clinical or basic science research.
